American flag with a fissure
America seems more divided than ever. Does God have a plan?

Between several international wars, mass government layoffs, and a Congress seemingly paralyzed by partisan gridlock, some folks in the United States are losing faith in our institutions to function effectively.

If the guardrails of society are indeed coming down, is it time we place our faith in a higher power instead?

That sentiment is working its way into the mainstream.

“God Has a Plan”

GOP Rep. Mark Alford told scores of angry federal workers at risk of being laid off by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) not to worry – God has a plan for them… it just may not involve employment in the federal government.

“Just because you have a government job doesn’t mean it’s a lifetime appointment like a Supreme Court,” said Rep. Alford to his frustrated constituents. “So I would encourage anyone who finds themselves in this situation to realize that we are going to get this economy turning again. There are jobs available. God has a plan and purpose for your life.”

For the laid-off workers in the audience, this wasn’t exactly the reassurance they were looking for. One woman was heard snapping back, “We don’t want your God.” Another man, interviewed by local news, dismissed Alford’s remarks entirely: “We don’t need thoughts and prayers… we need someone to stand up for us.”

Their frustration underscored a growing divide in America – not just in terms of economic policy, but in the very way people interpret divine will.

Is a Higher Power at Work?

While Alford’s constituents questioned whether God’s plan included mass layoffs, a very different sentiment was on display at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Maryland. There, Elon Musk’s radical government overhaul wasn’t seen as an economic upheaval – it was seen as part of a higher mission.

“Thank God for Elon Musk,” said John Paul Moran, an attendee from Massachusetts. “100 percent.”

Another attendee, Kellie Kiefner, framed the job losses as a necessary sacrifice: “Some people might have to suffer in the short term, but in the long run, you have to look at the big picture.”

This notion of divine providence is something President Trump himself has highlighted. After an assassination attempt last year, President Trump stated that his life was spared by a higher power. "I was saved by God," he declared, "to make America great again."

For believers, the big changes coming to America – from Trump's re-election to Musk’s sweeping cuts – are not evidence of chaos but of a divine blueprint.

Two Americas, One God?

Two different locations, two different political affiliations, and two very different ideas of God’s plan for America’s future.

In Kansas City, displaced workers decried what felt like divine abandonment. At CPAC, activists praised the same upheaval as providence. Both groups invoked God, but the gods they saw were strikingly different.

For some, faith is about stability – about ensuring that institutions serve and protect the people who rely on them. For others, faith is about disruption, tearing down the old order to pave the way for something new. One group prays for security; the other, for revolution. One sees government layoffs as an avoidable crisis; the other, as an unavoidable sacrifice.

What do you think? Does God have a plan for America? And if so… which plan will win out?

The Christians have a well documented plan is to destroy America. The article "The Religious Right and the Abortion Myth".

White Christians in the 1970s didn’t initially care about abortion but did and have always cared about racial segregation. The Christians organized to defend racial segregation in Christian institutions in America and only seized on banning abortion because to hide their real goal of destroying America. They are succeeding which they think will bring the return of Christ.

As far as I’m concerned, the current president of the United States is the Anti Christ!

I don’t know why you think that about Trump-Obama, Biden, and the rest of the Democrats are antichrist! Trump and Musk are dismantling all the ones that are trying to divide this country and bring it down-don’t believe in the popular media anymore- Maybe you should do a little research going down the rabbit hole-into the deep dark web, much worse than the scariest movie you’ve ever watched

God doesn't interfere with the affairs of men. Pointing the finger upstairs while defending taking peoples jobs is just denying responsibility. Let's see if he has the same response when the King abolishes congress.

Ahhhh a lost sheep … his “plan” seems odd. I mean, why doesn’t he intervene when he sees a pedophile having anal sex with infants, children, etc? Serious question. Why did he not intervene when a certain president was grabbing women by their genitals? Why did he just stand around doing nothing while Covid was killing millions of people? Need I go on?

This is not a god who is loving, caring, etc. This is the very definition of evil.

God hates his creation. We were created to worship him. If you do it right, you get to go to Heaven and do it for eternity. If he was a mortal and our father, DYFUS would take us away from him.

We have major lessons to learn about things we must have forgotten. It could be a long ruff ride. It’s all up to us. “God” allows.

Remember - Ronald Wilson Reagan was 666. (Each name has six letters) Those who followed him (the GOP) are imps, with the manifestation of the reincarnation of the Lord of Darkness being DJT, "He who shall not be named".
