Couples planning a spring wedding may want to lean into the new life symbolism and the power of changing seasons when structuring their ceremony script. This sample script pulls in those themes, while also keeping a traditional format. As an added bonus, the weather may be just mild enough this time of year that guests can comfortably enjoy an outdoor ceremony!

Introduction/Welcome/Wedding Sermon

Officiant (to guests):

On this spring day, we bid you welcome to all the friends, family, and colleagues that have gathered to commemorate and celebrate the marriage of _______________ and _______________. Just as the flowers bloom, new life is born to the animals, and the trees bud new leaves, _______________ and _______________ will experience many new experiences as a married couple from this day forth.

Officiant (to couple):

It’s time for your marriage to blossom before you this very moment. Prepare yourselves for the moment you have been waiting for!

Reading

Officiant (to guests):

O my Luve 's like a red, red rose

That's newly sprung in June:

O my Luve 's like the Melodie

That's sweetly played in tune!

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,

So deep in love am I:

And I will luve thee still, my dear,

Till a' the seas gang dry:

Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear,

And the rocks melt wi' the sun;

I will luve thee still, my dear,

While the sands o' life shall run.

And fare thee weel, my only Luve,

And fare thee weel a while!

And I will come again, my Luve,

Tho' it was ten thousand miles.

- A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns
