Will Gaza soon be property of the United States?

In recent days, President Trump has suggested that the United States should seize control of Gaza and permanently displace the two million Palestinians living there. He has vowed to turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”

While Gaza’s future is currently unclear, if the United States does take such a dramatic step, it will also be inheriting a collection of holy sites dating back thousands of years.

Here are some of the holy locations in Gaza that could become property of the United States very soon.

saint porphyrius church

1. The Church of Saint Porphyrius

The oldest active church in Gaza, this house of worship was originally built by crusaders in the 1150s and renovated in 1856. However, the site it sits on was first used as a church all the way back in 425 CE, before getting turned into a mosque in the 7th century.

It is named for – and houses the tomb of – Saint Porphyrius, the bishop of Gaza from 395 to 420, who is believed to have helped “Christianize” the pagan peoples of Gaza. This ornate church still serves the people of Gaza today, and is often used as a place of refuge in times of conflict.

barquq castle

2. Barquq Castle

This Islamic fort was constructed during the reign of the Mamluk Burji Sultan Barquq in 1387 AD. Initially built as a resting place for weary merchants traveling between Cairo and Damascus, it bears an unusually heavily fortified exterior for such a stop. Today, the exterior remains but much internally was damaged by Israeli forces in the recent Israel-Palestine conflict.

tell umm el amr

3. Tell Umm el-'Amr

This archaeological site, believed active from the 4th to 8th centuries, is home to Saint Hilarion Monastery. In its time, this monastery was one of the largest in the Middle East, housing several churches, a baptism hall, sanctuaries for travelers, and a massive underground crypt.

It is attributed to Saint Hilarion, a Gazan considered the father of Palestinian monasticism. This site was discovered in 1999, and is one of the only archaeological sites accessible to the public in Gaza.

qasr al basha

4. Pasha’s Palace

Partially destroyed in the Gaza war, this palace was originally built by the Mamluk sultan Zahir Baibars in the 13th century. Before its recent partial destruction, it was a museum celebrating Gazan history and heritage. Due to its strategic defensive design, Napoleon Bonaparte stayed there for three nights during his 1799 siege of Acre.

al omari mosque

5. The Great Omari Mosque

Also known as the Great Mosque of Gaza, this is the largest and oldest mosque in Gaza, dating back to the 7th century. Per tradition, the Great Omari Mosque is on a site which previously was home to a Philistine temple honoring the pagan god Dagon, toppled by Samson in the Book of Judges. The site was transformed into a mosque in the 7th century by generals serving Omar ibn al-Khattab, the second Caliph of Islam and the mosque’s namesake. This is a very important location in Muslim culture, a triumphant symbol of Islamic expanse in early history.

Gaza: Next Real Estate Development?

These are just some of the historical sites the United States may inherit should President Trump’s Gaza takeover plan proceed.

Trump reiterated his stance this week, explaining that he's serious about developing the land. In remarks that have further outraged critics, he clarified that Palestinians would not have the right to return to Gaza:

To say this is a controversial policy proposal – in the United States and abroad – is certainly an understatement.

But regardless of how this shakes out, it's worth considering how the holy sites in Gaza fit into the equation. If the United States does indeed take over the land, how should these ancient historical sites be treated, and what will become of them?

In all seriousness, I don't think Trump actually cares about holy anything, except on a very superficial level for the sake of PR. He's more interested in the shekels he and his cronies can gain from the Ben Gurion Canal project. If there're some tourist revenues in the mix, all the better for him. I'm sure there'll be at least one overpriced hotel with Trump emblazoned on it in gold (the only thing he really cares about other than his own ego).

The United States has no business trying to take over Gaza! Maybe the world can rid us of his cancerous brain, since we don’t seem to be able to do it ourselves…

Personally I don't live in USA, but I've been enjoying watching what's going on in the US capital right now. It's certainly mostly a consequence of Trump going on a rampage of revenge against all the people and organizations who've offended him in the past, but if the end result is gutting the government of even a portion of it's astronomical level of corruption, fantastic! More of that please! I want someone to do that here were I live.

It's just replacing the government with his own brand of corruption, no improvements there. It's not really about revenge, it's about installing his own corporate machinery to turn the country into a profit generator for him personally. That means ignoring any citizens who aren't either billionaires or corporations that have the type of money that interests him. People are already dying as various orgs are shut down--it is nothing to these people to drag an elderly woman out of the hospital where she's being kept alive, and send her home to die. If you'd like him please come get him, you can have him for free.

          1. EnjoyYourMilquetoast's Avatar EnjoyYourMilquetoast

Those orgs which were shut down have been responsible for almost every war and violent regime change in the past 60 years. I agree that Trump is setting himself up for when he's out of office. I have zero illusions about that. And certainly there will be some corruption that comes part and parcel. But if it means that the government as a whole ends up with less taxpayer money and less power to interfere with free speech and other such constitutional rights, then I'm 110% in favor.

Anyway, if you aren't in favor, you're also welcome to move to UK or Germany where they are happy to arrest people for posting memes on the internet while they turn a blind eye to literal rape gangs and Islamic terrorists who proclaim their right to murder you in the name of the Allah and his pedophile prophet. Since that and so many other unbelievably asinine ideas seem to be what "liberal" and "democrat" have come to mean these days, frankly I'll take Trump and his ilk hands down.

Big difference was Adolf served in the military with the extra dangerous job of running messages between trenches. Yes, you’re right, the list does go on, and here is some of it that you didn’t mention:

$70,000 for production of a “DEI musical” in Ireland

$2.5 million for electric vehicles for Vietnam

$47,000 for a “transgender opera” in Colombia

$32,000 for a “transgender comic book” in Peru

$2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala

$6 million to fund tourism in Egypt

Hundreds of thousands of dollars for a non-profit linked to designated terrorist organizations — even AFTER an inspector general launched an investigation

Millions to EcoHealth Alliance — which was involved in research at the Wuhan lab

“Hundreds of thousands of meals that went to al Qaeda-affiliated fighters in Syria”

Hundreds of millions of dollars to fund “irrigation canals, farming equipment, and even fertilizer used to support the unprecedented poppy cultivation and heroin production in Afghanistan,” benefiting the Taliban

          And the list goes on.

Meanwhile, we still have homeless Vets on our streets while we house illegal immigrants in 5 star hotels, provide phones, cash, etc., and flights to the State where they’d like to live.

Clearly, bassackwards policies for our own citizens in need.

The term "Palestine" first appeared in the 5th century BCE. It comes from a Semitic toponym that was used to describe the general area. How the name originated The term "Palestine" comes from the ancient Greek word Palaistine. The term was used by Herodotus in his work The Histories to describe a district of Syria. The term was used to refer to the area between Phoenicia and Egypt. The term was used to describe the coastal strip inhabited by the Philistines. Other uses of the term In the early 2nd century CE, the Roman province of Judaea was renamed Syria Palaestina. In the 19th century, travel guides used the term "Palestine" to describe the area between Egypt and Mesopotamia. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the terms "Western Palestine" and "Eastern Palestine" were used in literature. Related terms The term "Palestine" is related to the Biblical ethnonym "Philistines". The term "Palestinian" was first used to describe Arabic speakers of Palestine by Khalil Baydas in 1898.

    Absolutely horrific idea.

In ancient Hebrew, the word hamas means "violence, corruption or wrongdoing". Interesting that thousands of years before the Palestinians created Hamas, Israel already had them accurately defined.

If or when Hamas is obliterated the Palestinians will create a new Hamas. There'll be a new Oct 7 with new cheers from the Palestinians. Then there'll be a new invasion by Israel and once the new Hamas has been obliterated, the Palestinians will create a new Hamas with a new Oct 7 with new cheers.

Let Israel deal with terrorists in their land as they see fit, keep USA boys out of it. Israels borders are as ancient and known.

    1. Gerard Anthony Ritchie's Avatar Gerard Anthony Ritchie

I agree. Let Israel deal with local disputes without the interference of the US and other western powers. But that ship sailed a long time ago. The US and the UK and others are complicit as they have poured thousands of tons of munitions and weapons into Israel to kill Palestinians. It would be nice is they would stop now but that doesn't seem to be on the cards. So, you are right that so long as Israel is enabled by the US and western powers they will continue to slaughter Palestinian men women and children and steal more and more of their land. And if they eliminate Hamas ver1 there will indeed emerge Hamas ver2, Hamas ver3 etc. That's what happens when you brutalise and oppress a whole ethnic and national people. They resist in any way they can. The only solution to the problem is for both Israel and the Palestinian people to agree to share the land in a fair and equitable manner. If Israel started rebuilding Gaza and the West Bank in a partnership agreement with representatives from the Palestinian people (not just one political party like Hamas or the PA) and representatives from the UN and other Arab state peace-keepers it would create a ready market for Israeli goods, improve the economies of both Israel and Palestine and, bring more political stability to the middle east. The only reason that (some of) the Palestinian people support Hamas is because they see no other alternative to give them a sense of agency. But I am sure that they are sick of the death, destruction and poverty that they have had to endure for decades.

Although not directly comparable, look what happened in Northern Ireland when the IRA finally agreed to a ceasefire in 1998. The Irish people had become sick of the bombings, punishment beatings, knee-cappings and killings of their friends and family members by the IRA and also the division in the community between Unionists and Republicans. The IRA had lost the support of the people. And, although there are still a few dissident groups operating they are a pale shadow of the Provos. Now, a generation has grown up that has not had to see armed soldiers patrolling their neighbourhoods, frequent bombings in their town centres and daily punishment beatings. And the result; Belfast, Derry/Londonderry and the rest of Northern Ireland has flourished and is holding its own with other regions in the UK. Take away the violence and people thrive and develop community cooperation. Of course nothing is perfect but violence never improves it.

      1. James Hage's Avatar James Hage

Yes lets worry about artifacts and buildings while Israel continues to murder innocent men women and children. Israel should never have been formed and needs to be dissolved and it's people once more scattered across the earth. Evil should not be concentrated in one place. The bible shows the long history of disobedience to GOD, murdering and stealing everywhere they go, worshipping false gods and forming idols. Why is no-one asking about the racism and white supremacy. This site raises some of the most pathetic questions, but almost never touches on anything real.

          In the meantime consider this:

If it's wrong to scatter the Palestinians(murderers of men women and children)who've lived there for 40 generations, why is it right to scatter Israelites(murderers of men women and children)who've lived there for over 100 generations?

I got bad news for you guys. Zionism was created in the 16th century by Protestant Christians in an effort to bring about the end times and the 2nd coming of Jesus. It didn't catch on with Jews until 3 centuries later. Israel was a product of collaboration between the German Zionist Federation and the Nazi party, with help from Christian Zionists in the UK and USA. It was founded by a bunch of Zionist terrorist groups which ultimately became the Likud party.

The basic thesis for this violent colonial invasion was articulated by Ze'ev Jabotinsky in 1923, a decade before WW2, in an essay called "The Iron Wall". He was comparatively moderate (in spite of founding the Irgun terrorist group) in contrast to those in power in Israel at present.

Suffice it to say that this conflict, and all the bloodshed involved has been entirely the product of Abrahamic religious extremism, starting first and foremost with Christians, then Jews, neither of whom were from Palestine in the first place. Moreover the October 7th attack was intentionally allowed to occur (much like Pearl Harbor) as an excuse to ethnically cleanse Gaza in keeping with the above plan. The IDF even went so far as to kill their own citizens in accordance with the Hannibal Directive, and then proceeded to blame it on Hamas. I'm no more a fan of Muslim extremism than anyone else, but Christianity and Judaism are by no means even slightly less culpable. So your way of excusing the genocidal behavior of Abrahamic superstition is to point the finger at other people? That's a nice example of the fallacy of relative privation.

By the numbers, I think Bartolomé de las Casas reported far more casualties of Abrahamic conquest (a la Catholic Discovery Doctrine) in the Caribbean and Latin America alone, and that's just one first hand eye witness account of one example from thousands of years of examples. Mao, Stalin and Hirohito have nothing on Abrahmic superstition in terms of it's death toll.

In any case, how about you take some responsibility and stop excusing, defending and promoting a genocidal ideology yourself. Then and only then maybe you'll have some credibility to point the finger at other people.

PS. You can read for yourself. If you don't want to read it in full, then just do a search for "million" and you'll find every instance where he cites the slaughter of 3 million here, 12 million there, 50 million there, and so on, all endorsed and enabled by Abrahamic ideology. Never mind that it's still largely ongoing even centuries later.

Divine Lands, Earthly Ambitions: A Reflection on U.S. Intervention in Gaza’s Holy Sites By Rev. JTSunrise, Celestial Nexus Church

Recent reports indicate that the U.S. Government is taking steps to assume control over certain holy sites in Gaza—a move that strikes at the very heart of sacred tradition and the divine order. Scripture reminds us in Psalm 24:1, “The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,” underscoring that holy places are not for earthly power struggles but for worship and reflection of God’s majesty. When political forces attempt to commandeer these sanctuaries, they risk profaning what has long been held as a refuge for spiritual communion, replacing reverence with dominion.

This interference is not merely a political maneuver—it is a profound moral failing. By imposing state control over sacred sites, the government disregards the ancient rights of people to access their religious heritage free from coercion and exploitation. Jesus taught us in Matthew 22:21 to “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, and unto God what is God’s,” a clear directive that while governments may have their sphere, the sanctity of divine property must remain inviolate. The act of taking over holy sites is an affront to that sacred boundary and a betrayal of our shared responsibility to protect the spiritual heritage that unites all people.

In a world yearning for justice and renewal, such actions provoke not only political outrage but also spiritual disillusionment. True leadership and moral authority are measured by one’s capacity to uplift the downtrodden, preserve the sanctity of the sacred, and foster unity among all peoples. As we witness this audacious move, let it serve as a sober reminder that our duty is to defend the divine order, ensuring that sacred spaces remain holy and untainted by the ambitions of power. May we stand firm in the conviction that what is holy belongs solely to the realm of God, and not to the transient grasp of political authority.

A small majority, Dan. Just 0.15 percent of all voters determined Trump’s 2024 victory. Searchable info.

And Rev. Paula's opinion does indeed matter to many of us, unlike all the (0 votes) ones.

A small majority Hunt? He not only took the popular vote, he also took almost 100 more electoral college votes the the Cackler. His party also took the Senate and kept the House and has control of the SCOTUS with soon to get another Judge when Sotomayor has to leave because of her sever diabetes.

And so far the only ones that Paulas opinion or posts count is to the ones that are still butt hurt that Harris blew almost 2 Billion dollars and still lost and still owes 20 million to the workers on her campaign that she has not paid!

Really? So the buildings are considered holier than the people, animals, plants, and trees that have been destroyed? If we let that sink in and truly reflect on it, what would life look like? It's interesting how so-called Christians often don't live up to the teachings of their master. If they did, they wouldn't resemble Pharisees; instead, they'd be seeking creative ways to share the abundance that exists in this world, making it a better place for all of God's creatures. Government leaders are a reflection of the masses, what a sad state of affairs. Let’s be the change we want to see in the world.

Hamas started the efforts at genocide when it killed 1,200 innocent men, women, and children. Then, in its typical uncivilized and savage way, Hamas took innocent hostages, many of whom were killed in Hamas's "care." Are we losing site of the fact that Hamas should never be given the chance to do that again??? Objective Oliver

    1. Michael Hunt's Avatar Michael Hunt

Firstly, not all Palestinians support Hamas. Secondly, 62,614 Palestinians and 1,139 people have been killed in Israel since October 7, 2023. The majority of the population in Gaza is women and children.

      1. James A. Ridings's Avatar James A. Ridings

The majority of the population in Israel is women and children. Hamas beheaded children. That is uncivilized savagery. No organization which supports that kind of "effort at genocide" should be allowed to exist anywhere. No Palestinian should support Hamas because of Hamas' goals to eradicate Israel and control the Palestinians.

The land belongs to God...not the US. You also forgot that in the mistakes of this tragisty the People are still that are victims and lost a great deal by no fault of their own. Yes none of it should have happened but in No Way should trump take over the land. If he's so dead set on what happened give the land to Israel

  1. John Parks's Avatar John Parks

The Abrahamic covenant is from God. " I will bless them that bless You. I will curse them that curse You. The Palestinians would be better off on the coast of the Sinai Peninsula where they would finally have their own state. Trump isn't talking genocide or death for anyone except Hamas, who have been extreme in their violence and hatred. Repatriation is not genocide.

The holy sites should be World heritage sites that are open to all. More than half of Israeli citizens are of Arab origin. Israel is tolerant of all non violent people. The Palestinians have taught generations to hate Jews and Gaza has become a prison, due to the violence and hatred that is instilled from an early age.

Israel should retain ownership of Gaza and give long term leases to foreign developers. Egypt lost the Sinai to Israel in war, and Israel gave it back with conditions to prevent future wars. It is largely undeveloped and unimproved. The coast of Sinai, would be a beautiful place for a Palestinian state. Building a new city there would give them a clean slate, and a fresh start. It would also provide safety for both Israel and the Palestinians. It's an opportunity to to end the hatred and violence.

Israel is a legitimate state. They have the right to be there and defend their state and heritage. Hitler tried to exterminate the Jews and after WWll they were given their ancient homeland. Hamas picked up where Hitler left off. What has happened is the consequence of Hamas, and now we are finally presented with an actual 2 state solution.

After reading most of the comments on here I am pretty much ashamed of every one of you. Your inability to see paste your own bigotry is amazing. You're all pharisees and religious fakes. Since none of you can show proof of this man being a dictator or half of what you've called him then you are doing nothing but repeating the medias propaganda. As for DOGE, it is doing exactly what they campaigned on, the cleaning up and accountability of the government. Any of you throwing a fit because they are proving where the fraud is and how much, should all go look in the mirror, as you are as guilty as every politician whose taking money from the corporations and government funds. I may not like Trump but unlike you hypocrites here. I can step back and have sense to not listen to the Mainstream Media propaganda. The worst part is none of you can even see just how big of religious hypocrites you've become. Don't say you're a good Christian because you have shown that you're not. May God forgive you, please feel free to be offended and mad at me if it will make you feel better about yourselves. I won't waste any more time on religious hypocrites. End Of.

I like to watch the mainstream news, and it seems like Trump is violating a lot of the government rules and responsibilities. That you say that we are unable to see past our own bigotry is amazing. I sensed a lot of name calling in your post. Is that some form of bigotry? America has a system of rules and the law and some people (myself included) think he is breaking them.

The Palestinians were there first and Israel is the one who keeps encroaching on their land and illegally settling there.

      1. Daniel Gray's Avatar Daniel Gray

Wrong again Mike. there was no such race as Palestinians before 1942 and the nice little stone in the London Museum called The Merneptah Stele,, clearly shows Israel right where it is today as well as owning the Sinai and Gaza and 100 miles to the east of the Dead Sea AND part of Jordan. Or are you going to try to argue with historical fact when it shows the Pharaohs of Egypt battling with them over 2000 years before Christ?

In short they dont have ANY claim to that land and history back us up on this.

As if any of us would have any say in it. That creature has set his sights on it as a money-making venture, which means that holy sites will be treated exactly as any other development plot: in whatever way makes the owner the most money. We all know that if Trump was brought the Holy Grail itself he would drink Diet Coke out of it. Nothing but money is sacred to him and his cohorts. If he does indeed take Gaza then it's as good as soiled the moment that happens. He desecrates everything he touches. It's not for nothing that his movement is named after an ancient Egyptian demon of chaos, Maga.
